I havent been able to get past this message to install or set anything up. Attach the nest display line up the pin connector on the back of the display and push it onto the base until it clicks into place.

Nest please attach display to base. Attach the nest display. If things dont light up then go back to the previous step and check your thermostat wiring connections. Some time about a year or so ago it started dying on the base and wed have to charge it twice a day. Turn on the power. After running a series of interesting characters on the display i got this message please attach the display to its base. Dont screw or tilt it in just line it up and press in place.
Last night i finally ran a new run of 187 between the furnace and thermostat to add a c wire and it completely solved the problem. We got our nest 3g on black friday 2016 and it worked just fine throughout the winter. The thermostat shows a notification that says please remove the thermostat from its base then reattach it the thermostats display wont light up and unresponsive you may also observe a blinking red or green light above the display the thermostat cant control the corresponding heating and cooling units. Switch power back on breaker box switch. It will light up when attached properly. Press the beautiful glass face of the nest thermostat right onto the base.
If while the display is attached to its base you see a red blinking light then it means that the thermostat is charging but doesnt have enough power to turn on. Whenever i attach it to the base i get the home icon then a message that says to remove the nest from base and reattach it and then it restarts and does the same thing. So ive just purchased and am attempting to install the nest thermostat. But the unit did come up as a mass storage device. If you dont hear the display click use your thumb to push.
Connect wires after all the wires are connected make sure theyre flush with the wall. Use the other two short screws to attach the nest base and trim plate to the steel plate. Attach display press the display until it clicks into place. After a couple of minutes the light will turn light green and should see a message on your display saying please attach the display to its base.
