This is a typical wiring setup for a 3 way light switch with black white red and ground wires. Wemo black wire to the white wire from old switch.

Light switch only has one black wire. Open the package of wire nuts and installation screws that came with the new light fixture. Wiring a three way switch. Run 2nd wemo black wire to black wire from old switch. My old light switch in my bathroom only has two black wires connected to it. Smart switches use a neutral and a ground wire in addition to the line and load black wires. A single pole single throw switch such as a light switch.
You have to have a common and i did was run a single wire from a box that uses a common wire. I would check that the load wire probably black is securely connected to the screw labeled load. With only 1 black and 1 white they are both black as far as hooking up wemo. One is the power coming into the box the other black is power going to the light. I should also mention that it is 5 led lights. For the ground on the wemo just cap.
If you have a ground wire connect the ground wire to the green screw. So far i cant seem to wire this to work. This switch and another switch can either be activated to turn on the light they are connected to. So i have a switch that has one black load i tested it and it has 120v one white neutral and one red. My apologies if this has been tackled before but im trying to replace an old light switch in my bathroom and the old one only had two black wires connected to it. If you dont have a ground wire leave the green screw unconnected.
The hot wire in a 120 volt residential ac circuit usually is coated with black insulation while the return or neutral wire is white. I have 4 installed like this. Run white wemo to this common wire you add. So usually a standard single pole dumb switch has two blacks. The switch mounting box is made for a double light switch but only has 1 switch mounted in it. There is also some other things in that light box i am not understanding.
While the light only has a black and white electrical wire some manufacturers include an addition wire. The black wire from the light to the light switch did not make my meter beep so i am not sure where it goes. Connect the black wire to the other brass screw.
