How to wire a one wire alternator. We are showing this example on an mf 35 deluxe tractor but the same wiring will work on all single wire alternators. Connect this wire to the the insulated stud output terminal on the back of the alternator with another ring connector. Connect a 10 gauge wire from the output stud on the alternator back to the positive battery terminal. Make sure that the battery is fully charged. Simply run one wire from the alternator battery terminal to the positive terminal of the battery or to the starter solenoid main lug which is connected to the positive battery post. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
Remove cover to plug in and use your original wire harness. Make both connections with a solderless ring terminal. This video shows you how to wire a single wire alternator on tractors. This connection can be made at the starter relay also as long as it connects to the same terminal as the positive cable from the battery.
