Replacing outlet with 3 white3 black wires i have an old outlet that has three black wires and three white wires along with the grounding wire. All the black wires in the box will be tied together with a wire nut.

But in that box there are 3 sets of wires going into the box there are red and white wires twisted together white and black twisted together and actually the main power wire going to the light switch i am wanting to change which has a black wire white wire and a little single lead wire going to this light switch twisted together. 3 white wires 2 pushed into the back one under the screw on the side 3 black wires 2 pushed into the back one under the screw on the side 3 ground wires all twisted together and under the ground screw. The receptacles have space for 2 white and 2 black either pushed in or connected to the side screws. Same thing with the whites. Usually i find 1 black 1 white and a ground wire or 2 white and 2 black. The brass screw is for the black wire and the silver screw is for the white wire and the bare wire is your ground and it goes to the green screw on the outlet.
