I have a track light controlled by a 3 way switch at one location and a dimmer at the other. If you find the light switch wont turn off immediately after youve installed it its probably because you wired it wrong but if the switch has been working and suddenly you find the light stays on when the switch is off the switch is malfunctioning.

Replaced the 3 way dimmer with another identical one from the same store cooper tal06p or b says both and once again the lights never turn off. I replaced both switches with new 3 way switches and the light still wont go off.
Tried the dimmer on the other side load vs line same result i can only get them to turn off if i hold the 3 way switch toggle right in the. The problem is probably that the toggle has disconnected from the circuit terminals. Usually when a 3 way switch fails lights can be toggled on and off at one switch but not the other. On the upstairs switch were two black wires old ones with a cloth type insulation and one black wire with plastic insulation. If one of the two 3 way switches toggles the light s on and off the other 3 way switch has probably failed. Toggle each switch until the light come on.
They do not have to be red and often are not. Replaced 3 way switch lights wont go off. At switch 1 make sure the black wire is connected to the black screw.
